How to Use Google Public DNS in Windows

Google is a popular company for web products. There are lots of web services provided by it. In of them Google Public DNS is one of the most used service by computer users. Google public DNS is free, global Domain Name System (DNS) which is used as alternative to our default Domain Name System. The DNS protocol is one of the important component web infrastructure. In other word it is a phone book like service which says IP address by web address (URL) . When we go to any web address(URL) first our browser connected with Domain Name Server. Then that server gives the IP address of the server where the respective web pages are located and our browser goes to the IP address which is given by the DNS (Domain Name System)

When to Use Google Public DNS

1. When default DNS system is not working.
2. When DNS of your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is down.
3. When some website is not opening on your computer.

How to use Google Public DNS

Follow the following steps to switch your DNS to Google Public DNS. Following steps is for Windows 7

Step 1: Go to Control Panel >> Networ and Internet >> Network and Sharing Center

Step 2: Click on >> Change Adapter Setting

Step 3: Choose the Adapter with which you use to access Internet and Right Click on it.

Step 4: Click on >> Properties then << you will see following Box.

Step 5: Click on one (TCP/IP) either on v6 or V4 and click on "Properties"

Step 6: Click on >> Use the following DNS server Address <<

Now input the following Values:

The Google Public DNS IP addresses (IPv4) are as follows:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

The Google Public DNS IPv6 addresses are as follows:
2001:4860:4860::8888
2001:4860:4860::8844

Step 7: Now save the setting. In this way you have switch to Google Public Domain Name system.

Some time DNS temporarily changed, after some time due to internal reason of the system, DNS address changed to default setting. So keep checking time to time.
